Open Mic at MyDorchester Night

MyDorchester Night is a unique event designed to celebrate Dorchester's social fabric by inviting community members to share, find, mobilize, and connect with each other. For this event the multi-purpose room of 450 will be transformed in to the Share Room. This room will have a "coffee house style" setting with scheduled performance pieces mixed with 2 open mic sessions. The "coffee house style" room is designed to be a space that will allow participants to creatively engage through interacting in our open mic sessions. We are looking for Dorchester residents to share their talents, stories, and experiences at MyDorchester Night during our open mic sessions. Be personal and tell a story about your community. Performance pieces could include poetry, spoken word, story telling, signing, acoustic music, essays, dance, etc.

A few open mic guidelines:
1.) Each performer will have 5 minutes.
2.) Each performer must sign-up for a specific time slot. (The performer may either let us know in advance or people will be able to sign-up the day of the event.)
3.) This is an all-ages event designed to celebrate community. Please keep this in mind when choosing your piece.

For more information about the open mic please contact Kelley Winters at kwinters@scidorchester.org or 617-822-8297
