Educate Yourself on the Flu


Wondering what you can do to keep you and your family healthy this flu season? Have questions about seasonal flu, 2009 H1N1(Swine flu), and the safety of vaccinations?
The Boston Public Health Commission in collaboration with the Boston Public Library is offering information sessions on Influenza/2009 H1N1 at City of Boston Library branches.
Information sessions will include:
- Basic information about influenza/H1N1
- What you can do to prevent the spread of the flu
- How to take care of someone who is sick with the flu
- Myths and Fact about the flu
- Location of free flu clinics

Youth Talent Show, Nov 20

This Friday come and see local youth displaying their talents from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Anthony Perkins-Lee School (155 Talbot Ave, Dorchester). Acts will include spoken word, dance ensembles, and a short stage play. Performers include local Boston youth acts: Teen Empowerment, SOK, Mattahunt Steppers, WEATOC, and more.

Representatives from City Year, Ten Point, Mayor’s Youth Council, Teen Empowerment, Big Brother/Big Sister, and the YMCA will be in attendance as well to connect the youth and their families with various community resources and volunteer opportunities. >> Read More

H1N1 Flu Clinic, THIS Saturday


Dorchester House Multi-Service Center has announced it will hold a Free Public H1N1 Flu Clinic this Saturday, Nov 14 from 9 am to 1 pm. The vaccine is in short supply, so they ask for your patience as you wait to receive your shot. Dorchester House encourages only those at higher risk of getting the flu (i.e. pregnant women, children, and adults with respiratory problems or immune problems) to attend. Holiday Fair, Nov 14

On Saturday, join in the festive holiday spirit at First Parish Church Dorchester (10 Parish St, Meetinghouse Hill). From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm buy gifts for all occasions from local artisans, craftspeople, organizations and vendors.

Upham's Corner Health Center is offering a Public H1N1 Flu Clinic on Monday, Nov 9 from 3 to 7 pm. Due to a limited supply, vaccine will be available for the following people ONLY: pregnant women, children, caregivers of infants, healthcare workers with direct patient contact, young adults up to 24 years old, and adults 25-64 with chronic health problems. >> Read More

The Tide Mill Conference for 2009 is scheduled for Saturday November 7, 2009. The venue will be the Dorchester Historical Society's William Clapp House at 195 Boston Street, Dorchester, MA.
