FAIRY HOUSE BUILDING EVENT RETURNS TO FRANKLIN PARK APRIL 18

 

Having made it through another winter, it will soon be the time of year when we see the magical creatures that reappear in New England’s fields and woods in the spring.  In order to welcome the local elf and fairy population, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will host their sixth annual Fairy House Building family event on Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Schoolmaster Hill in Franklin Park.

Citizenship Tutor Workshop

St Mark Community Education Program is offering a Citizenship tutor and teaching workshop! The workshop will prepare you to assist those who want to become citizens through their citizen preparation program.  

WHEN: Saturday, January 12, 2019, 10 am – 1 pm

WHERE: All Saints Church Hall, 209 Ashmont St, Dorchester (near Ashmont T Stop and parking available)

St Mark Community Education Program has been conducting citizenship classes for over 15 years. In partnership with the Boston Public Library, we will be offering classes in 5 branch libraries during the Spring of 2019.  Prepare to join our team of volunteers in one of our classes.

Mayor Marty Walsh has invited Grammy-nominated Boston Baroque to perform its sixth annual Free Community Concert at the Strand Theatre on Sunday, December 30 at 2pm. Ring in the New Year with family and friends and enjoy Bach's sparkling "Brandenburg Concerto No. 4" and Vivaldi's "Violin Concerto," performed with virtuosic flair by Boston Baroque concertmaster Christina Day Martinson. Families are welcome! The event is free, but tickets are required.

Boston City Singers Annual Winter Stars Holiday Concerts

Celebrate the season with Boston City Singers as they perform their annual Winter Stars Holiday Concerts on Saturday, December 15, in Jamaica Plain, and Sunday, December 16, in Dorchester.

The Jamaica Plain concert will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 15, at Hope Central Church, 85 Seaverns Ave., and will showcase the singing talents of children aged 4 to 11 from the organization’s Jamaica Plain and Dorchester Kodaly and Training Choruses.

The Dorchester concert will take place at 3:00 p.m., December 16, at St. Ann Church, 243 Neponset Ave., and feature performances by Boston City Singers Carolers, Cantare, Harmony and Tour Choir, along with a performance by the Saint John Paul Catholic II Academy String Ensemble. >> Read More
