She provides foreclosure counseling and resolution services for homeowners under the NDC's contract with MassHousing and the national HOPE foreclosure hot line. There are resources to help some owners keep their homes--especially if they contact the NDC as soon as they think they might be facing foreclosure. For example, some have adjustable rate mortgages whose interest rates will jump up early in 2008. The sooner we start working with homeowners, the better.
For some homeowners, keeping their home is not an option.
For some homeowners, we can help them refinance predatory mortgages.
For all the homeowners we work with, they will know and understand their credit reports/scores so they have the same information lenders, insurance companies, and prospective employers use to judge people.
We can assist homeowners by referral, including pro bono or reduced fee attorneys, and our portfolio of almost 700 affordable rental housing units.
For any families dealing with children with lead paint poisoning, Veronica also manages our home rehab and lead abatement programs
