Dorchester Youth Council 07

The Dorchester Youth Council is starting up its 4th year with at least 12 members. The council is preparing for thier 4th Annual Trick-or-Treat Canned Food Drive event on October 31st, which allows the members to go out into the Melville Park Community and instead of getting candy, receive canned foods. This event, which has been going on for the past 3 years, has benefited the Dorchester community greatly by collecting more than 2000 cans and distributing over 1500 resource bags. The canned foods will be distributed evenly with the partners pantries in Dorchester: Dorchester House, Codman Square and the Full Life Gospel Center church. There is still more to be done.

Ways to get involved:
1. Collecting canned foods
2. Volunteering on the night of the event with youth and adults (5:30-9pm)
3. Dropping off canned foods at the food pantries, Dorchester House located at 1353 Dorchester Avenue and Codman Square food pantry at 450 Washington Street on November 13th.

For more information about the event or on how you can participate and in what capacity, please contact Grace Ejiwale, the Youth Program Coordinator at 617.822.8297 or via email at gejiwale@scidorchester.org

My family truly enjoys this event every year. We've served as a drop off location every year. We look forward to seeing you all in Melville Park on Halloween.
