First Parish Church Thanksgiving Events Nov. 19

On Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. the First Parish Church of Dorchester will be having their annual Turkey Dinner. Attendees can enjoy a home cooked turkey dinner with all the fixings (and bring along a few friends)!

Tickets for the dinner are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children over 12, and $5 for children ages 5 - 10. If you have a large family, there is a $40 limit. If you can't afford tickets and want to attend, please contact Art by email.The parish will try to make sure everyone can attend.


On Sunday, First Parish will kick-off their annual winter food and clothing drive. All donations will be given to the DotWell food pantry at Dorchester House!

Jazz Brunch @ Ledge every Sunday!

Being Thankful For My Community Day Nov. 5

Being Thankful 1The Boston Project Ministries and  TNT Neighbors United will host the 8th Annual "Being Thankful for my Community Day" on Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteer for an hour or two, meet your neighbors, and have some fun! Meet at Elmhurst Children's Park on Elmhurst Street (from there, participants will split up into different service groups). After coffee and snacks, there will be a neighborhood cleanup. At noon is the potluck (those who help rake get to eat first), neighbor of the year award, and a big game of kickball!

Dinner and Movie @ Dot2Dot Nov. 11

On November 11th, Dot2Dot will be hosting a dinner and movie night! The featured movie will be "Like Water for Chocolate," a movie based on a novel by Laura Esquivel, and winner of 11 Ariel awards. The movie is a whimsical love story in which food plays a very important part. Set in Mexico and released as a novel in 1989, "Like Water for Chocolate" was the highest grossing movie for its time. Boston CAN Share Food Drive

Boston CAN Share is back again this holiday season for its 25th year! Boston CAN Share is an annual food drive sponsored by Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Hunger, FedEx, and the Greater Boston Food Bank. 

This year's CAN Share drive will run from Tuesday, October 25th through the month of December. It is important to end hunger and promote healthy eating. The goal is to make Boston the healthiest city in the US. We recognize that for every Boston resident to live a healthy lifestyle, we must start by eradicating hunger and increasing access to healthy food.

Jiggijac's, a catering business located near Codman Square (at 66 Brent St. in Dorchester), is hosting Tastefest on Saturday, October 22nd. Join Jiggijac's tasting event for an afternoon of great food, and try some of what they have to offer. The event will be $10 per ticket, two for $15. The 16th Annual Boston Vegetarian Festival is happening October 29th and 30th! Hear from an exciting array of vegetarian natural food providers, top national speakers and chefs, and educational exhibitors in a fun environment. 4th Cops-4-Charity Cook-Off Sep. 23

Cook-OffThe Boston Police Department, District B-2, will be raising money to support children who need their support. So, this Friday, September 23rd, join them for a Cook-Off! Sample a variety of delicious foods for just a $10 donation towards a good cause. The event will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Boston Police Post, 500 Morton St. in Dorchester (American Legion Highway).
