The Fields Corner Collaborative is pleased to kick off My Dot Tour, a multimedia, youth-led walking tour of Fields Corner in Dorchester this August! The free tours will take place Saturday August 6 and 13 at 11 a.m. and on Sunday August 7 and 14 at 4 p.m. Tours depart from Gallagher Insurance (~1471 Dorchester Ave) and Pho Hoa (1356 Dorchester Avenue) will host a reception after each tour where participants can cool off indoors and enjoy delicious Vietnamese cuisine. In the video posted online, Graham discusses his background and then gives a cooking demonstration for Lorenz's signature Jerk Chicken! "Staff Meals" Food Truck @ Ashmont; Other Trucks Throughout Boston

Boston Food TruckHear, hear (or perhaps it's wiser to say "here, here.") Food trucks in Boston! A food truck in Dorchester! A July 8 press release from the city details vendors, schedules and locations, in addition to describing the background of the Food Truck program and the Mayor's Healthy Food Initiative. The Staff Meal truck will be at Dorchester Avenue by Ashmont Station, in front of the Carruth building from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The Food Project Seeks Community Greenhouse Proposals, Deadline Jul. 20

The Food ProjectThe Food Project (TFP), with support from the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), is seeking partners to share community space in the recently opened Dudley Greenhouse. The Dudley Greenhouse is a 10,000-square-foot facility in the Dudley Neighborhood of Roxbury. Owned by DSNI and leased by The Food Project, the greenhouse operates year-round as a food production and educational space.

Space is open to groups serving the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan, with priority given to projects that directly serve the Dudley Neighborhood. The RFP can be found attached to this post, and on The Food Project website. Applications are due July 20th, 2011.

Interested groups and individuals are encouraged to visit the greenhouse and meet with the Greenhouse Manager Danielle Andrews in advance of submitting a proposal. The greenhouse is open to the public on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 to 12:30 p.m. Appointments can also be made by contacting Danielle via email or phone (617-442-1322 x13). "If we can we will!" All of our food is cooked to order. We are open to your suggestions and will make every effort to prepare your food the way you like it. If you don't see it on the menu just ask your server. Our Story: McKenna's Café has been Dorchester's neighborhood café serving breakfast and lunch for the past decade since 1999. McKenna's café is well known for its scrumptious breakfast starting as early as 5:30AM and served seven days a week. At McKenna's Café, breakfast is served All Day. Our food includes a unique assortment of omelets, egg creations, pancakes, French Toast, smoked salmon, and delectable coffees all served in the McKenna's tradition of gigantic portions and friendly service. We also have the best neighborhood lunch in town including deli sandwiches, such as pastrami and corned beef, huge salads topped with turkey tips, burgers, wraps and hearty meals including steak tips and chicken parm. We make most of our food fresh on premises including our own made potato salad, chicken salad with cranberries, chicken and rice soup and beef stew. We have many regulars that love our fresh "Fish Friday" served fried or baked with coleslaw and lemon wedges.
